Sixth-form life at the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools

-

AS a time of transition between school and university, life in the sixth form at Monmouth School and Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls acts as a springboard to exciting opportunities ahead.

The schools’ unique collaboration enables them to offer a co-ordinated sixth-form timetable with a choice of around 30 AS/A-level subjects.

More than 15% of pupils are new to the sixth form each year, and they are quickly integrated into the busy and varied academic and social life of the schools. In fact, the deputy head boy was new into sixth form last year.

This is strongly supported by after-school clubs and societies and pupils are encouraged to use the state-of-the-art facilities, including sports halls, swimming pools, performing arts centres, art and recording studios, science labs and ICT suites.

Virtually all pupils meet the requirements for their first or second choice at university, with around two-thirds attending Russell Group Universities to read subjects such as engineering, medicine, law, languages, history, maths and business.

The schools are running a taster day and information evening on October 13 to give prospective pupils an insight into sixth-form life.
