SWANSEA City’s hopes of pulling off their Premier League great escape have received a major January boost with Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson both insisting they are ready to stay in South Wales.

The star pair had already handed Paul Clement’s team a huge boost in their bid to fight off relegation when their goals helped inspire the club’s first-ever league win over Liverpool at Anfield, the 3-2 shock result lifting the side out of the relegation places.

And now they have both pledged their commitment to Swansea’s scrap for top-flight survival following supporter fears they would be lured away from the Liberty this month.

Llorente, pictured above, has been targeted by Chelsea with boss Antonio Conte, wanting a reunion with the former Juventus striker, while Sigurdsson has been linked with renewed £25m interest from Everton ,who were knocked back in the summer.

But following his Anfield double, Llorente has insisted he is happy at Swansea – and matchwinner Sigurdsson has said it would take something ‘unbelievable’ to stop him remaining at the Liberty this window after reaffirming his desire to stay.

Sigurdsson has also been speculated as a target for West Ham as a potential replacement for want-away ace Dimitri Payet, but thr Icelander vowed: “I am here to do my job and help this team win games.

“I am not focusing on anything that is written in the papers, I am focused on doing my job as I have been over the last few months.

“I don’t pay too much attention to it and as long as I am here I will do my best for the team.

“I expect to be here after the end of the month – I think it would take something unbelievable to happen for me not to be here.

“I am very happy at Swansea and I don’t want to get relegated, so I will just do my best to keep the team up.”

The pledge followed Llorente’s insistence that he is only focussed on adding to his eight-goal tally at Swansea, the World Cup-winning Spain international saying: “I am very happy here and I want to play and score more goals.”

Clement has long maintained he has no interest in seeing either of the prized pair leaving the Liberty, saying on Saturday that 31-year-old Llorente’s Liverpool performance underlined why he wants to fend off Chelsea’s interest.

Clement will now focus on bringing in further additions in the remaining week of the transfer window, Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew – brother of former Swans star Andre – the latest name to be linked.

A centre-back remains the main priority for Clement, who hailed the impact of new boys Martin Olsson and man of the match Tom Carroll at Anfield.

He will hope £4m winger Luciano Narsingh will be fit from a calf problem to be available against Southampton in Swansea’s next outing tomorrow week.
