Flash-mob launched 100 days to UEFA Women’s Champions League Final

-

100 members of Côr Glanaethwy (North Wales choir, which came third in Britain’s got Talent 2015) performed a flash mob to unsuspecting visitors in Cardiff Central Library yesterday, to publicly announce that we are only 100 days away from the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final.

Two young soloists started the song (The Prayer) and were gradually joined by other groups of the choir, scattered among the various areas and levels of the library, until they formed a crescendo of voices. Cardiff Library’s iconic design lends itself to amazing acoustics and the resulting performance was stirring and spine tingling.

Jayne Ludlow (official 2017 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final ambassador, former Wales and Arsenal captain), Karen Espelund, UEFA chair of Women’s Football Committee and members of the Wales Women’s Football team were in attendance as sporting ambassadors.

The choir and sporting ambassadors then unveiled the UEFA Star-Ball – a structural representation of the iconic UEFA star-ball which has become one of the competition’s most recognised elements. Standing at over five metres tall and supported by a trail of stars the structure has a dynamic impact on the UEFA Women’s Champions League brand in the city, and announces the arrival of the UWCL Final to Cardiff.

Cor Glanaethwy sang again before Jayne Ludlow and Karen Espelund presented a giant ‘first’ ticket to a lucky member of the general public.
