Man sought over couple’s murder

-

POLICE have issued details of a man they want to trace after the murder of a Welsh couple in South Africa.

Grandparents Roger and Christine Solik, pictured, who moved from Abercynon, near Aberdare, to South Africa in 1981, were killed after an alleged robbery at their farmland estate.

Mrs Solik, 57, was found dead in a river 35 miles from her home on February 17 and the body of Parkinson’s disease sufferer Roger, 66, was recovered three days later.

Police have said they are looking for 32-year-old Xolani Brian Ndlovu, who is wanted on suspicion of two counts of murder, house robbery, kidnapping and theft of motor vehicle.

They said his place of residence is unknown but named the area he is usually seen in.

A concerned neighbour raised the alarm on February 17 and reported the couple missing from their home in Nottingham Road. Officers found bloodstains, prompting the launch of a kidnapping and robbery investigation.

One man, Thulani Moses Mthembu, 43, has already been arrested on suspicion of murder and appeared in court on March 13. He is next due in court on March 22.

A spokesman for the police in South Africa said: “We appeal to anyone with information on the whereabouts of Xolani Brian Ndlovu to contact the investigating officer.”
