Tories complain of ‘bullying’
SENIOR Tory officials in a Welsh constituency have written to the director of the Conservative Party in Wales complaining of “bullying” and “interference”.
Anne Roberts, who chairs the Aberconwy Conservative Association, has also accused the Welsh Conservative Board of lying to the local party and giving “bizarre, inconsistent and wrong” advice.
The letter is one of several documents that have been leaked to us.
In a letter to Richard Minshull, director of the Welsh Conservatives, Ms Roberts states: “Richard, the Association and its officers have no confidence in you or Lyndon [Jones – Deputy Chairman of the Welsh Conservative Board] to be open or honest with us.
“The Welsh Board have lied to Aberconwy about phantom investigations, being placed into Special Measures and their powers to compel Aberconwy to act in accordance with their wishes.
“The advice that we have received from the professional party based in Cardiff... has been bizarre, inconsistent and quite frankly – wrong.”
Ms Roberts wrote: “We would also like to place on written record our continued concerns about the continued interference and bullying that we experience.”
A Welsh Conservative spokeswoman said: “This is an internal party matter and as such I’m afraid it’s a ‘no comment’.”
