A-FAST-GROWING headhunting firm has opened a new office and appointed two new employees on the back of growing assignment wins.

Cardiff-based executive search business Goodson Thomas has moved to new premises in Morganstown, north of Cardiff, and taken on a consultant and an associate consultant.

Sam Smith joins after delivering assignments over three years in Dubai as a senior consultant for executive search business Beresford, Wilson & Partners.

His expertise in recruiting for renewable energy and construction projects and his experience of working internationally will help Goodson Thomas widen its client portfolio.

Associate consultant Cerys Jones joins with experience of professional services spanning financial, legal and real estate including the Think Money Group in Manchester and Principality Building Society, and having spent five years with boutique search business The Winchester Partnership.

Sian Goodson launched Goodson Thomas as a boutique executive search firm in July 2015.

In just under two years the company has experienced rapid growth and delivered 23 search assignments for the likes of Principality Building Society, TrakCel, BESA, National Theatre Wales, National Museum Wales, Pobl Group, the Institute of Welsh Affairs and the Care Council for Wales.

Goodson Thomas’ turnover for the first two quarters of this financial year represented a fourfold increase on the same period in 2015/16 and it is set to close a record sales month this March.

It recently secured a number of significant wins including the search for S4C’s new chief executive, finance director for Hywel Dda University Health Board, head of operations for The Waterloo Foundation and multiple roles for the Wales Millennium Centre.

It has also managed assignments for European clients including Belgium business Volcke Aerosol Connection and Germany-based Hörmann Group.

It recently moved into new premises in Ty-Nant Court, Morganstown, to allow for future growth.

Mrs Goodson said: “I am proud we have achieved so much in such a short space of time in what is a very competitive marketplace.

“We have lived up to our aspiration to be a truly generalist search business, having worked in a range of industries across the public, private and third sectors. We invest a lot of time and effort to ensure the client achieves best value and an excellent outcome.”

Mrs Goodson said the company, with its team of seven employees and associates, would continue to grow and broaden its portfolio while remaining true to its boutique nature.

She added: “With a new base from which to build on our operations with our two great new starters, who are both crucial to our growth plans, I am excited and confident about the future for Goodson Thomas.”
