Huge boost as Llorente’s passed fit for Cherries challenge

-

FERNANDO Llorente has been passed fit to hand Swansea City a huge survival boost ahead of Saturday’s key clash at Bournemouth.

But the news of the talisman striker’s return has been tempered after Paul Clement confirmed Martin Olsson will miss the trip to take on their relegation rivals having failed to recover from an ankle problem.

Swans boss Clement will be able to call upon Kyle Naughton, who has joined Llorente back in training having missed the win over Burnley at the start of the month with a hamstring strain.

With Angel Rangel having undergone an operation on his foot following injury in the defeat to Hull, Clement has called up youngster Connor Roberts to the senior side’s training sessions following the Under-23’s recent title win.

But with Naughton back, Clement has stated Stephen Kingsley will fill Olsson’s role at left-back for the game against Eddie Howe’s men who are just three points ahead of 16th-placed Swansea going into Saturday’s fixture on the south coast.

Still, the return of top-scorer Llorente will be a significant fillip.

“Fernando is okay and is training with the group, as is Kyle Naughton who we lost against Burnley,” confirmed Clement.

“We picked up a few injuries at Hull; Angel has had surgery on a broken bone in his foot.

“And Martin Olsson has not returned to training. Stephen Kingsley will play at left-back, he is a good young player; we have faith in him.”
