Strange is delighted by Wales thrillers

-

WALES Under-20s coach Jason Strange has no plans to revoke his players’ licence to thrill when they close their Six Nations Championship campaign against France at the Stade Sapiac, in Montauban, tonight (8.05pm GMT).

Strange, who was himself a silky running outside-half, is thrilled with the way his Welsh youngsters crafted some stunning scores in their five-try 41-27 victory over Ireland in Colwyn Bay last Saturday.

And the former Ebbw Vale star is urging his team to keep the attacking rugby coming as they aim to finish with a flourish.

He said: “I was really pleased again on Saturday evening. Both the result and the performance were very good and we scored some wonderful tries. The biggest compliment I can give to the players is that I am really enjoying watching them play.

“That was evident on Saturday – we scored some lovely tries and played a good brand of entertaining rugby which is pleasing.”

Wales will be aiming to cement their current second place position in the Six Nations table with a win in France.

Strange’s side have plundered 106 points in their past two games against Scotland and Ireland, with captain and centre Keiran Williams running in five tries across the tournament.

“We have used a lot more players than last year,” added Strange.

“The depth of our squad means we have a lot of competition for places.” Wales U20 team: R Williams (Cardiff Blues); C Baldwin (Scarlets), I Nicholas (Scarlets), K Williams (capt, Ospreys), R Conbeer (Scarlets); B Jones (Cardiff Blues), R Morgan-Williams (Ospreys); R Carre (Cardiff Blues), C Tarrant (Cardiff Blues), S Thomas (Scarlets), A Dombrandt (Cardiff Met), S Moore (Pontypridd), S Lewis-Hughes (Cardiff Blues), J Botham (Cardiff Blues), A Ward (Cardiff Blues).
