-

TRADE credit insurer Atradius has appointed Mike Thomas as head of risk services for UK and Ireland.

Mr Thomas has nearly two decades of experience with Atradius, joining in 1999. Initially an underwriting and recovery specialist, his roles included underwriting Atradius’ intensive care portfolio. Mr Thomas then became responsible for managing higher-risk multinationals in the automotive, IT and industrial sectors. This international remit included leading teams in the US, Paris, Antwerp and Atradius’ UK headquarters in Cardiff, before he returned to a special risks role in the UK.

For the past two and a half years, Mr Thomas has broadened his scope with Atradius, heading the Risk Services Global Platform, optimising the firm’s risk offering for large multinational companies.

Mr Thomas takes over as head of risk services and special products analysts for UK and Ireland from Marc Henstridge, who is now Atradius’ chief insurance operations officer.

Mr Thomas said: “I am excited by the opportunity to lead the risk team in UK and Ireland – the knowledge and experience within the team are unrivalled and I want to build upon this to ensure that Atradius continues to be the best service provider in the market.”

Alun Sweeney, UK director of Atradius, said: “Mike Thomas has an incredible wealth of experience and knows the business inside out.

“He is well-positioned to drive success from within, delivering innovation and realising our potential for future growth.”
