Bonnie’s back with top German rock band in a powerful duet

-

BONNIE Tyler’s first single in almost four years will see her collaborating with one of Germany’s leading heavy metal acts.

The Welsh chart-topper – and the only Welsh act to score a numberone hit in America – has teamed up with Axel Rudi Pell to duet with the band’s lead vocalist, Johnny Gioeli, in the new ballad, Love’s Holding On.

Written especially for the Skewen-born singer by guitarist and band leader Axel, he explained on the band’s Facebook page that it was conceived with only Bonnie in mind: “Bonnie Tyler only records songs she likes,” he wrote. “So I wrote this tune just for her and she really loved it. She came to the studio and we recorded it within a couple of hours.”

The single Love’s Holding On is released today, and comes from Axel Rudi Pell’s compilation The Ballads V, the fifth instalment in a series of albums dating back to the early 1990s.

“The result is amazing,” he continues, “another soon-to-be Pell classic in the making. If I hadn’t been a fan [of Bonnie] already, I would have turned into one instantly.”

The Ballads V follows on from their previous album, Game of Sins, which charted in numerous countries across Europe, and marked their debut on the UK’s rock and metal chart in January 2016.

Other tracks on the new album include a cover of Ed Sheeran’s I See Fire, which appeared on the soundtrack to the second Hobbit film.

Bonnie, whose career peaked in the 1980s while working with Jim Steinman on hits including Total Eclipse of the Heart, and Holding Out for a Hero, will be touring Germany, Australia, Mexico and Chile this spring and summer.
