Perry’s Glasto date causes fireworks among music fans
MUSIC lovers have hit out at the inclusion of Katy Perry at this year’s Glastonbury, with one fan saying the line-up looks more like an aerobics class playlist than a rock festival.
Fans across Twitter were divided over yesterday’s announcement, as some called it the “best in years”, while others accused organisers of turning it into the more pop-infused V Festival.
Aside from Ms Perry, the line-up so far includes Stormzy, Major Lazer, Clean Bandit and more than 80 other artists. They joined previously announced headliners Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters and Radiohead.
Gemma Samways hit out at critics, tweeting that those festivalgoers unhappy with Ms Perry “should have their tickets automatically confiscated”.
Jolene Dover said she was “super happy” with Ms Perry’s scheduled appearance, and praised organiser Emily Eavis, adding: “You’re having a hug from me.”
Meanwhile, Jake Poblocki tweeted: “Best Glasto line up in years”.
Will Reed agreed, telling Eavis she had “nailed it”, however, Dan Sparrow criticised the decision, saying he “didn’t understand why Glasto booked Katy Perry”.
Ross Holt said the festival had gone downhill, writing: “Glastonbury used to be brilliant now they have Katie caterwauling Perry. ”
Another critic, Lindsey Williams, posted: “What is going on with Glastonbury this year? Ed Sheeran + Katy Perry? It’s like an aerobics class, not a rock festival.”
Earlier Ms Perry shared how excited she is to be heading to Worthy Farm by tweeting a flashing sign saying : “I am playing Glastonbury.”
