Whittingham’s time at an end after talks
PETER Whittingham’s 10-year stay at Cardiff City could be coming to an end after manager Neil Warnock revealed fresh contract talks with the Bluebirds stalwart have hit stalemate.
And an agreement over a new deal for winger Kadeem Harris is still to be thrashed out after the Cardiff manager admitted the two parties remain “apart” on terms.
Cardiff resume Championship action this afternoon following the international break, a period where Bluebirds boss Warnock held several discussions regarding plans for next season.
It including talks with midfielder Whittingham, in-form Harris and defender Bruno Manga, all of whom see their contracts expire at the end of the current season.
But while Warnock offered hope over extending the stay of fit-again centre-back Manga, he threw fresh doubt over the future of Whittingham after conceding that there is still no sign of a deal.
Warnock had initially said an offer would stay on the table for the 32-year-old who first arrived in south Wales from Aston Villa in January 2007.
But, after the financial restrictions over Cardiff’s spending next season under new Financial Fair Play rules were laud bare, Warnock admitted talks were put on hold.
