TWO Welsh acts missed out in the final of ITV talent contest The Voice as 21-year-old Mo Adeniran claimed the title of The Voice UK.

Jamie Miller, from Cardiff, and Into The Ark, from Blackwood, had faced the singer from Warrington in battling it out for a recording contract and the title of The Voice winner.

Yet it was not to be for the two Welsh acts as Mo pushed Into The Ark into the runners’ up spot and Jamie Miller into third.

The hotel worker, 21, looked stunned as host Emma Willis announced that he had been voted the winner of the 2017 series.

He thanked his mentor, singer and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson, for her support as confetti fell around him and he was hugged by his fellow contestants.

“An amazing thank you to the most phenomenal person I have ever met, thank you Jennifer,” he said.

Adeniran took the title following blistering performances of Paolo Nutini’s Iron Sky and Unsteady by X Ambassadors.

After the first round of voting Jamie was voted out, leaving Into The Ark and Mo to battle it out for the title. But there was huge praise for the two Welsh acts.

After Jamie sang Shape of You by Ed Sheeran, Sir Tom Jones told him: “There’s a lot of pressure tonight and you handled it beautifully.”

He also told Into The Ark: ‘You’ve already won it as far as I’m concerned. You’ve got a long career ahead of you”.

Fellow judge Jennifer Hudson also told them: “You guys are on your way.”

Teammates Miller and Adeniran have been mentored by Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson and Valleys boys Into the Ark were on Team Tom Jones.

The winner was chosen by public vote after the final three was whittled down to two. After the disappointment of coming second, Into The Ark thanked their mentor Sir Tom Jones describing him as “amazing”.

Into The Ark have already landed something of a coup as their mentor Sir Tom plans to have the duo - Dane Lloyd, 21, and Taylor Jones, 25 – join him when he starts a nine-date UK tour in June. He says he’s even open to singing one of their songs.

They performed No-one by Alicia Keys and Sam and Dave’s Hold on I’m Coming with Sir Tom on Saturday night’s show.

Miller performed Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean? And Runnin’ by Beyonce and Naughty Boy.

Earlier, judges were stunned as an intruder stormed onto the stage as it was announced that Jamie Miller was not the winner of this year’s competition.

After Emma Willis broke the news that he would not be taking home a record contract after his performance of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You, a man rushed onto the stage.

The unknown stage invader could be seen holding onto a piece of card, which he held above his head, before security rushed on and knocked him off the set.
