Sir Tom blames ‘shock’ for TV talent show swearing outburst

-

SIR Tom Jones has put swearing during the live final of The Voice UK down to “shock”.

The Pontypridd-born singer and coach on the ITV show was heard saying “f*** me” as it was announced that his act, Into The Ark, had made it through to the final two of the competition on Sunday night’s show.

As he yesterday launched the band’s first UK headline tour for later this year, Sir Tom said of the incident: “I was so shocked and because I believe in them so much.

“It gives me a boost to know that the public believe like I do in these boys.”

The duo, from Blackwood, eventually finished second with Jennifer Hudson’s act Mo Adeniran taking the show’s crown and securing a coveted Polydor recording contract.

Cardiff singer Jamie Miller came third in this year’s contest.

Into The Ark, made up of Dane Lloyd and Taylor Jones, will embark on a 16-date tour across the UK starting on May 12 before supporting Sir Tom on his tour later this year.

The group will make stops in London, Leeds, Edinburgh and Cardiff ahead of joining the What’s New Pussycat? hitmaker for another 10 concerts, beginning with a performance at the Sherwood Pines in Nottinghamshire on June 24.

Lloyd, 25, said: “We can’t believe it. We’re so grateful to have the best mentor you could ever have... and we get to go on tour with Tom.”

Jones, 21, added: “Does life get much better than touring with such a great guy and a Welsh legend?”

Sir Tom said: “We’re going to do some shows together.

“It’s a tour that I’m going on and the boys are coming with me. Definitely looking forward to having the guys on board. Can’t wait.”
