Stade star cited for stamping

-

STADE Francais winger Josaia Raisuqe has been cited for stamping on Ospreys teenager Keelan Giles during the French side’s 25-21 victory at the Principality Stadium last weekend.

In the 19th minute of the match, Giles rushed up to make a tackle on his opposite number and held on after the Fijian had offloaded the ball, leading to the Stade winger stamping his right foot down on Giles’ chest.

It is unclear if Giles knew the pass had been thrown, and referee Matthew Carley sent Raisuqe to the sin bin after consulting with his TMO on the day.

Citing commissioner Alberto Recaldini of Italy issued a complaint to tournament organisers EPCR and Raisuqe will now appear in front of a disciplinary panel made of up Chairman David Martin (Ireland), John Carroll (Ireland) and Jean-Philippe Lachaume (France) in Paris today.

Raisuqe will be hauled in front of the panel after allegedly contravening law 10.4 (b) which deals with stamping on an opponent.

If found guilty, depending how severe the offence is deemed to be, he is facing anywhere between two and 52 weeks on the sideline.

The offence carries a low end entry point of two weeks, a midrange entry point of six weeks and a top end sanction of between 12 and 52 weeks.

The 22-year-old was eventually sent off for a second yellow in the 51st minute when he cynically went offside to thwart an Ospreys attack.
