help him and we did not really do that in the first half against Middlesbrough,” said Clement.

“We were better at it in the second half. Leroy Fer got himself in there, we got the far side winger in there and we encouraged Gylfi to go in there as he is a good size too.

“I think you can still cross the ball, but the type of cross needs to be different. You cannot loop them in from deep, they have to come in a lot harder, lower and earlier and vary the angles in terms of cutbacks and things like that.

“We do create a lot of chances and get in a lot of good positions on the wide areas. It is hard for teams to stop us.

“Tactically we have a lot of joy doing that, the challenge is to get support up and around Jordan because clearly he is a different play to Llorente.

“We have options in that position. I have looked at everything that happened before and we consider many different things.

“Playing Gylfi there is something I have thought about, but it is not something we have practiced with at this stage.”

The failure to break down an obdurate Middlesbrough side means Swansea are just a solitary point above the relegation zone heading into Wednesday’s fixtures.

Boro travel to face Hull and should the Tigers win that contest, and Swansea drop any points against Tottenham, the Welsh club will find themselves in the bottom three with just seven games to save themselves.

That defeat equalled the worst that Swansea have ever suffered in the Premier League as the hosts run amok once Dele Alli had won a controversial penalty, which Harry Kane converted.

There will be no Kane at the Liberty as the striker recovers from an ankle injury, while the likes of Erik Lamela and Harry Winks are also sidelined.

Not that Clement expects that to make too much difference to Tottenham’s
