-

CARDIFF has been ranked one of the best places in the UK for its thriving commercial property sector.

The capital has been ranked third in a list of the best 100 cities and towns outside of London for the potential of its office market in research from Property Week.

The Property Week Hot 100 Office Index 2017, carried out by location experts CACI, assessed 373 cities and towns using criteria including:

Relative size and demographic of the workforce; Public transport; Quality of road infrastructure; and Quality of the retail offer and wifi speeds.

The influential list is topped by Brighton with Edinburgh second and Cardiff third. The only other Welsh location on the list is Swansea, with a ranking of 69th.

Head of economic development for Cardiff council, Ken Poole, said: “This is fantastic news for Cardiff and cements even further our reputation as a great place to do business.

“Businesses looking at potential locations in the UK will take heed of independent research like this and that can only be a very good thing for Cardiff.”

He added: “The Central Square regeneration scheme is rapidly taking shape with the success of both of the 1 and 2 Central Square office schemes attracting a wide range of tenants and showing that Cardiff is an office location. In addition to this, the success of the Capital Quarter development has seen existing businesses and new investors take up space in this grade A office scheme.”
