GAP Connah’s Quay beat Bala Town 2-0 yesterday to qualify for the Europa League for a second successive season to move above the Lakesiders into second place.

George Horan headed the Nomads into 26th-minute lead and the win was sealed eight minutes from time when the Lakesiders’ Stuart Jones headed into his own goal.

Bangor City caused an upset with a 3-0 defeat of champions The New Saints at Nantporth.

The visitors had defender Mihai Leca red-carded on 40 minutes for a foul on Dan Nardiello, and Henry Jones headed City in front seven minutes after the break.

Nardiello added a second before interim boss Gary TaylorFletcher grabbed a third in the final minute.

The students of Cardiff Metropolitan University recorded their best-ever away win in the Welsh Premier, 4-0 at Carmarthen.

A Kyle McCarthy penalty set the students on their way and further goals from Will Evans, Rhys Thomas and Eliot Evans completed the win.

Newtown ensured top spot in the bottom half of the table and a place in the play-offs with a 7-0 demolition of relegated Airbus at the Airfield in Broughton, a record-equalling league defeat for the Wingmakers.

The Robins led 6-0 at halftime and Jason Oswell completed a hat-trick after the break, his third of the season, to virtually claim the Golden Boot.

Cefn Druids ensured another season in the top flight with a 3-2 home win over Llandudno, Mike Pritchard claiming a firsthalf brace.

Lee Thomas had drawn the visitors level on 16 minutes but a goal from Ashley Ruane eight minutes from time put the hosts in control, although Marc Williams claimed a late goal for the visitors.
