Dainton’s own little private Idaho

-

LEE DAINTON made his name on MTV’s Dirty Sanchez show. He now runs the 420 skateboard store in Cwmbran. His favourite room is his editing suite.

“It’s my editing studio and where I put all my videos together,” the 43year-old said.

“It’s full of pro skateboards, memorabilia from Sanchez, tour passes, T-shirts from going on stage and stuff signed by people that I have picked up along the way. Things like that.

“It’s a man cave. It has continued to grow into I don’t know what. It has just become it’s own little system.” It’s been neglected recently. “I spent so long in there editing for the documentary ‘Pritchard vs Dainton: The Rise and Falls’; so much time doing that on-and-off over five years I was almost burned out.

“I didn’t even properly edit anything for six months.

“I was done and ready to go back to being a normal person.”

He still shoots skateboarding and constantly posts antics from his life online.

“That room is my own little private Idaho,” the father of two, from Pontypool, said.

“I was saying to my girlfriend Amy, ‘I have got to get this place organised and maybe bring it into the future’.

“Because it is full of old Sanchez stuff. It needs to be brought into the now. That might involve an exorcism. I don’t know who could do it though, friends.

“But someone should come and exorcise it, it’s full of Sanchez ghosts.”

He said the room had been filled with “screams of frustration” at trying to make videos work.

“You can imagine some of the things that we got up to,” he said.

“I edited quite a lot and the rest of the house got to hear the pain of the artist at work.” It’s not just memorabilia in there. “It’s full of scorpions, there are scorpions in picture frames and bottles I don’t have any priest LINEN and natural fabrics have been used in interiors for centuries and once again they are having a revival. The new trend for simplified rustic interiors has created a demand for beautiful understated fabrics with a nostalgic edge.

Linens are perfect in this setting and the multitude of styles this natural fabric can now be acquired in is quite inspiring. Sheer curtains in simple linen are the perfect option for a simple country interior, moreover they look equally at home in a Scandinavian style setting or a stark contemporary scheme.

Choose the curtain style that suits the theme of your interior and linen will simply nestle perfectly into your scheme. A word of warning however, plain linen creases, so if you cannot abide a casual creased look, avoid using it, especially in roman blinds. of vodka and in sweets,” Dainton said.

“My skull collection is in there because I collect skulls.

“They’re things I have found. Ram skulls, owl skulls, squirrels, mice, a pig.

“I had to move the pig into the shed; it was too powerful.” The space is “quite small”. “It’s not big at all,” he said. “Everything is on top of you in there but it’s cool because it’s tight.

“It’s like being at a small venue watching a punk band. I’ve a chair for editing and a sofa for my friends so we can watch edits and whatever.

“I’m probably too much into my editing to be honest, some people paint and I edit.

“Skateboarding was my thing and I can’t do all the s*** I used to be able to do now.

“No, not because I’m too fat.”
