Welsh rock giants Feeder have announced a special homecoming concert at Chepstow Racecourse this summer.

The band will play a one-off outdoor event on Friday, August 25, which will see frontman Grant Nicholas returning to play his home town.

The Bank Holiday weekend show, billed as Feeder – The Homecoming, will also see the rock outfit celebrating 21 years of releasing albums ahead of a career retrospective release in late September.

The band has released nine fulllength studio albums, amassing more than five million record sales along with three platinum and two gold albums.

Their ninth and most recent album, All Bright Electric, released in October 2016, garnered yet another top 10 chart position for the successful band.

Grant Nicholas said: “It’s great to finally be playing Chepstow for the first time after all these years.

“This year will be the 21st anniversary since the release of (first album) Swim, so it seems only right to be doing a show near the town where we grew up and where we started to get into music.”

He added: “I’ve always thought about playing Chepstow, it’s always been on my mind and we’ve been approached before about playing there but it was never the right time,

“When we did it I wanted to do it for something special, and with us marking 21 years since we released Swim it seemed the perfect moment.”

The singer and guitarist said the gig, at a venue which has seen such music acts as Madness and Simply Red play in the past, will see him revisiting his musical roots.

“The show means a lot to me. Chepstow is where through my mates and my older brothers’ record collections I found music and decided I wanted to be in a band.

“I’m sure I will feel a lot of pressure because there’s a lot of people I know who will be there but I want it to ultimately be a celebration of the past 21 years and for me there is no better place to celebrate that.”

Phil Bell, MD of Chepstow Racecourse, added: “I have been a fan of Feeder for many years.

“I was looking to book them for an event at the racecourse without realising that Chepstow was Grant’s home town.

“The Homecoming idea soon followed our early conversations with the band. We are hugely excited and proud to be involved with the band.”

The show will see the band revisiting some of their biggest top 20 hits including Feeling A Moment, Just The Way I’m Feeling, Tumble And Fall, Just A Day and Buck Rogers while also performing classic Feeder material and new fan favourites from latest album All Bright Electric.

Tickets for the gig are available via pre-sale on Monday, May 8, from feederweb.com and on general sale on Wednesday, May 10, from the Chepstow Racecourse website.
