Arms Park name is back next season

-

THE historic home of Cardiff rugby will revert to being known as Cardiff Arms Park next season, as the naming rights deal with BT Sport comes to an end, writes Simon Thomas.

For the past three years, the ground’s official title has been the BT Sports Cardiff Arms Park.

That was part of a multi-million pound agreement between the broadcasters and PRO Rugby Wales.

The deal saw BT Sport becoming shirt sponsors for the Scarlets, Ospreys and the Dragons, while also having their name attached to the Arms Park.

It was a ground-breaking arrangement and a first for Welsh rugby.

The renaming of the Arms Park followed in the wake of a long list of stadium sponsorship packages in various sports.

But now the three-year BT deal has come to an end. They will no longer be ground sponsors for the Blues or the main shirt sponsors for the other three regions.

The Blues are now looking to secure one-year naming rights deals for the two stands at the Arms Park.

And they are in dialogue with interested parties about naming rights for the proposed new stadium which they hope to see built on the site.

The Scarlets have unveiled their new home and away kits for next season... with a new shirt sponsor to be revealed imminently.

The west Wales region agreed a five-year deal with sportswear manufacturers Macron in February and now the new kits have been revealed.

It’s the traditional scarlet hue for the home outfit, but the away jersey is anthracite in colour, representing the region’s industrial heritage.
