Retail space at university’s student centre for up for grabs

-

COMMERCIAL space at Cardiff University’s new £50m Centre for Student Life is being marketed by property advisory firm Cooke & Arkwright.

Work on the building, which will run for 140m along Park Place in the centre of Cardiff, will start later this year, with the aim of being ready for the 2019-20 academic year.

Inside there will be a 550-seat lecture theatre, consultation spaces for student wellbeing, shops, a student advice bar and a single gateway for all non-academic student inquiries.

Cardiff-based Cooke & Arkwright will market the scheme’s commercial space, consisting of two units, both extending to 2,000 sq ft each on the ground and first floor.

Huw Thomas, director of retail and leisure agency at Cooke & Arkwright, said: “We’re delighted to have been appointed to market the availability of the commercial opportunities within the Centre for Student Life.

“Cardiff University has embarked on a major project to transform its campus to pave the way for new, state-of-the-art student, teaching and research facilities.

“The new Centre for Student Life is a key part of this project, transforming not just the university but also the city of Cardiff. “The location of this building, which will link into the existing students’ union, provides the availability of new and modern commercial accommodation within a flagship development and is a unique one-off opportunity.

“Well, we’ll be looking to attract established brands with an all-day snacking, food and beverage offering, to service not just students but also the university staff, local businesses and the wider community who use this area during university breaks,” added Mr Thomas.
