Burmese days in Cardiff as senior designer joins architects

-

NEWPORT-BASED Eos Architects has expanded its creative team with the appointment of Myanmar-born Wah Wah Myint as senior architectural designer.

Cardiff resident Ms Myint, 39, gained a Bachelor of Architecture at Yangon Technological University in Myanmar (Burma) before completing her training at the internationally renowned SPINE Architects.

After coming to Cardiff in 2005 to further her studies with a Masters in Theory and Practice of Sustainable Design from Cardiff University, Ms Myint worked in several roles from architectural assistant to senior architectural designer, overseeing all RIBA work stages on small to large residential schemes, especially for housing associations across Wales.

Although a fully qualified and experienced architect in Myanmar, regulations in the UK prevent Ms Myint from using the protected professional title of architect. She is undertaking her RIBA qualifications to address that, and recently gained the advanced diploma in Professional Practice.

Her experience includes planning submissions and design developments for projects such as residential, doctors’ surgeries, hotels and student accommodation across England and Wales.

Ms Myint said: “This is an established practice and I am looking forward to adding my broad experiences and design approach to the firm.

“This is an exciting time for architecture and I love the firm’s attitude to practical, challenging design and attention to detail, both of which make for great urban design.”

Campbell Lammie, managing director, added: “Wah Wah’s appointment is good for the practice. She brings huge enthusiasm and skills at a time when we are experiencing client growth and taking on substantial projects.

“By securing new projects from existing clients, alongside new commissions, Eos Architects is drawing upon decades of experience among the directors to create architecture and a built environment of which we can be proud.

“We are confident that this will strengthen our offer across industrial, education, healthcare and housing sectors, and the combined knowledge we can provide to our clients.”
