Munawer looks rock solid at Brighton

-

THE UNEXPOSED MUNAWER is fancied to get back on the winning trail in the fxelectrical. com Handicap at Brighton.

The son of Dutch Art set connections back a whopping 350,000 guineas as a yearling and while that lofty price tag looks expensive judged on his first few efforts, he is clearly not devoid of ability.

His debut performance at Windsor last October was hugely positive, with Hugo Palmer’s charge finishing a clear second to Adamant, who is now rated in the mid80s.

Munawer confirmed that promise with a comfortable victory at Wolverhampton less than a fortnight later before being put away for his winter break.

He made his three-year-old debut at Newmarket last month and was backed as though a big run was anticipated.

While his supporters ultimately lost out, he was not disgraced in finishing fourth, suggesting his current perch of 78 is perfectly workable.

Talented apprentice Marc Monaghan takes 3lb off his back for his latest assignment and it will be disappointing if he is not at least involved in the finish.

Light Of Air will not be winning out turn if he manages to get his head in front in the Labyrinth Challenge 18-20 August Handicap.

The Gary Moore-trained four-year-old has been a model of consistency since the turn of the year, running several good races in defeat.

He was last seen finishing third at this venue a few weeks ago and while he could ideally do with some help from the handicapper, this is not a great race and he might just be up the job.

Alwahsh has been found an excellent opportunity to open his account at the third attempt in the opening race at Wetherby.

The William Haggastrained colt has an attractive pedigree as a son of Dubawi out of a Galileo mare and has a decent level of ability to go with it.

He shaped with some promise on his is racecourse introduction at Newbury in the autumn of his juvenile year and there was plenty to like about last month’s comeback effort at Yarmouth when he was beaten just a short head by stablemate Hakeem.

That is the best form on offer by some way in the Yorkshire Post Ladies Day Tuesday 6th June Maiden Stakes and unless one of the newcomers is well above average, he should get off the mark.
