DETAILED plans for Cardiff Bay’s huge four-day Champions League festival have been unveiled, with top DJs set to perform and legendary footballers due to play a football match held between former European Cup winners.

The festival will formally open at 11am on Thursday when Ian Rush brings the Champions League trophy to the floating pitch currently sitting in the bay. The floating pitch will host the Uefa Champions League Stars match on Friday at 4pm. And while the line-up remains under wraps, it is understood that legendary names will showcase their talents on the water.

The Cardiff Bay basin will host musical acts until 11pm on Thursday and Friday and until 5pm on Saturday.

Acts will include Cerys Matthews, Britain’s Got Talent favourites Only Boys Aloud and Cor Glanaethwy, and Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. On Friday night the main stage will be headlined by superstar DJ Steve Aoki – who recently collaborated with One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson.
