Corbyn is not a potential leader

-

THERESA May the prime minister called a general election for June 8 three years before she had to call an election and she did so for two reasons. She did so because the Conservatives were riding high in the polls at 20% and could expect a majority in the next parliament of up to 100 seats and also the fear of brexit negotiations which could prove very difficult and as a result make the prime minister and the government very unpopular.

This she calculated she would rather face after the election than before. Everything has changed and the polls at the moment suggest the result could go either way. Although Theresa May’s popularity has plummeted during the campaign I believe on the day the electorate will vote for her and not Jeremy Corbyn who has not come across as a potential leader.

Who knows, an awful lot can happen in 10 days and the Manchester tragedy could work for Mrs May as the Falklands worked for Mrs Thatcher. I predict that the Liberal Democrats are fighting a credible campaign although the result will probably be very disappointing for them. Ukip has achieved what they aim to and see us withdraw from the EU and will probably be wiped out and let’s hope that Nicola Sturgeon will have a bloody nose. Home rule would give her the state she desperately aims for, but a greatly reduced standard of living for the Scottish people. Sir Eric Howells
