Conference looks at key issues facing charities
WHAT the future holds for charities will be addressed at a seminar at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff next week.
Leading investment management firm Brewin Dolphin is hosting its flagship annual conference for charities in Wales and the south west of England, following the success of its two previous events.
Speakers fot the event on June 8th, include Andrew O’Brien, head of policy and engagement at Charity Finance Group and Liza Kellett, chief executive of the Community Foundation in Wales.
Sarah Atkinson, director of policy and communications at the Charity Commission for England and Wales is giving the keynote speech.
Amid a backdrop of great scrutiny and financial pressure on the sector, the topics to be discussed include the key challenges facing charities in 2017, philanthropy and community in Wales and the Charity Commission’s current policy agenda.
Trustees have clear legal obligations to manage their charity’s resources responsibly. Investment managers can help ensure a charity’s assets are working as hard as they can be through their involvement in the overall strategy discussion and by formulating an investment solution to meet a charity’s needs.
Russell Hooper, assistant director at Brewin Dolphin’s Cardiff office, will relate these issues back to how asset managers can help their clients navigate an uncertain future through the use of innovative investment strategies.
He will explain how tailored portfolios can take advantage of the business cycle and how they utilise the various asset classes within the investment universe.
David Myrddin-Evans, head of Brewin Dolphin Wales, said: “We are delighted with our line-up for this year’s seminar. The views of such high-calibre charity professionals will be of great value to those charity trustees, executives and finance teams who care about the future of their organisation.
“We feel the event also features an unparalleled opportunity to network with peers and policy makers.”
