Couple have extra reason to celebrate

-

IT WAS a night of celebrations for Real Madrid fans as they lifted the Champions League trophy in Cardiff – but two fans had even more reason to celebrate.

After the final whistle had blown and Los Blancos were waiting to receive their medals, a Real Madrid fan got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend in an extremely romantic gesture.

The lucky lady of course said yes, receiving cheers from friends and fellow fans as fireworks went off at the National Stadium of Wales, as if they were specifically for them.

Mark McCluskey, 34, who caught the proposal on video said it was a great end to a perfect Champions League final.

He said: “There was a whole party of people from Sony and there was this Madrid fan who I could see was a bit nervous, obviously he was trying to pick the right moment.

“When he popped the question everyone around us cheered for him and his partner, who were quite emotional.

“It fitted in quite nicely with what was going on, on the pitch.”

Mark, a marketing head with O2, caught the proposal on film by accident while filming the celebrations on the pitch.

He said: “I could see he was going to do something and all of a sudden he popped the question, it was a case of being in the right place at the right time.

“They seemed very happy and were hugging and kissing each other and their friends were taking photos.”
