Bluebirds snap up Scots ace Paterson

-

CARDIFF City have made their third new signing of the summer with the capture of Scottish international defender Callum Paterson from Hearts.

The 22-year-old, who has been capped five times by Scotland, was out of contract at Tynecastle this summer after making more than 150 first team appearances for the Edinburghbased club and become Neil Warnock’s third signing following the arrival of Neil Etheridge and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

Paterson was born in London to a Scottish father and Zimbabwean mother has penned a deal at the Cardiff City Stadium that will keep him in south Wales until the summer of 2020.

An attacking full-back, Paterson also netted an impressive 38 goals during his five-year stint in the Scottish capital.

Paterson told iFollow website: “I’m absolutely delighted and buzzing to be part of this big club.

“It’s nice and early so I’ve got a lot of time to bed in, get to know my way around the area and introduce myself. It’s great timing and I’m happy to be here.

“Anyone that has watched me has seen that I like to attack,” continued the full-back.

“I’m athletic and I like to go forward and try and get on the end of crosses.

“I’m a great attacker and I like to score my goals, so hopefully I can come here and score a few too.”

The Bluebirds paid Hearts £400,000 in compensation and Paterson insisted a sell-on fee was included his three-year contract
