Girlfriend of London victim writes heartfelt tribute

THE girlfriend of London Bridge victim Sebastien Belanger has written a heartfelt tribute to her lost partner, saying: “Every night I will meet you in my dreams.”

A day after Mr Belanger, a French chef, was named by police as one of the eight victims of the attack, Gerda Bennet, 22, from London, wrote on Facebook: “He called me mon amour like that would be my name.”

“I see you with my eyes open... I see your clothes and things and don’t know what to do... I can’t stop thinking of how much we planned and how much you planned with your friends,” she said in the post, which also featured a picture of the couple kissing.

“You are my best, the love you gave me will always be here. You have best friends and family in the world, I can’t thank them enough for everything they are doing... everyone loves you so much and it hurts every single one that you’re not here with us,” wrote Ms Bennet, whose Facebook profile lists her as working in an east London restaurant. “You have [the] best friends and family in the world, I can’t thank them enough for everything they are doing. Everyone loves you so much and it hurts every single one that you’re not here with us,” she added.

In the comments, Ms Bennet also thanked “everyone who tried to help us” in the appeal to find Mr Belanger following the attack.

“Thank you so much for everything. Seb would be proud!” she said. Mr Belanger, who worked and lived in London, was watching the Champions League final with friends in the Boro Bistro bar when three terrorists stormed the area.

As he helped look for his friend on Monday, Mr Belanger’s friend Damien Lecomte, 34, said: “Sebastien is a talented chef, he is one of the best people I know.

“He is the very definition of a friend – always here to help you, to listen to you, whatever he can do to help you, he is going to be there.

“He is a guy who enjoys life, socialises with people, meets new people, that’s Sebastien.”
