Breakup woman found hanged

-

A NEW Zealand national who started a new life in Swansea was found hanged days after breaking up with her partner.

Swansea Coroner’s Court heard Cheyenne Crocker’s life could have been saved if her former partner had arrived just a little earlier.

Ms Crocker was found in her flat in Gore Terrace, Swansea, on June 8 last year.

The 25-year-old was originally from New Zealand but came over to the UK in 2015 to be with her partner, who she met online.

The inquest was told that Ms Crocker had “substance issues”.

Assistant coroner for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Aled Gruffydd told the inquest at Swansea Civic Centre: “Her and her partner had split up about four days earlier and her partner had arranged to pick her up to take her to an appointment on June 8.”

The inquest heard that had she not stopped en route there may have been time to save her.

Mr Gruffydd said: “The partner undertook some unscheduled appointments beforehand and arrived at the address to find the deceased.”

A verdict of suicide could not be proved beyond reasonable doubt and a narrative verdict was returned.

Mr Gruffydd, who said that it may have been a cry for help, added: “The deceased died by hanging caused by her own act. The intention to die by that act could not be proven to the appropriate standard.”
