Kia adds Stonic to SUV range

- Stewart Smith newsdesk@walesonline.co.uk

CROSSOVERS and SUVs large and small are all the rage in today’s car market and Kia is winding up to introduce its latest offering in the sector with the Stonic.

The Stonic is a compact crossover with European design flair which Kia says is inspired by the form and function of larger Kia SUVs such as the Sportage and Sorento.

The Korean car maker has just released design sketches of the Stonic which reveals a sweeping roofline and cleverly designed roof rack to add a sporty look to the vehicle.

Tail lamp graphics amplify Stonic’s young and futuristic appearance.

Kia says the car blends sharp horizontal feature lines with softer sculpted surfaces and brings compact dimensions and a low centre of gravity to the class.

The cabin echoes the appearance of the exterior, with straight lines, smooth surfaces and geometric design forms.

The Stonic’s interior features ‘smart’ packaging which optimises space for all occupants and has what Kia calls a floating HMI (humanmachine interface) blending smartphone access with the car’s many functions.

It goes on sale later in the year and Kia claim the Stoic will be the most customisable Kia ever, inside and out.

The Stonic will have its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September when further details will be released.
