Grenfell cladding not Self-Extinguishing

-

WHAT an absolute tragedy in North Kensington and the Grenfell Tower flats.

In my working experience this

should never have happened.

For 13 years I was employed by the polystyrene industry. Part of our production was making the polystyrene ceiling tiles (if people remember them?) and these tiles were manufactured with a different material called SE beads, the SE standing for Self-Extinguishing.

That means if there was a fire the tiles would not ignite but would extinguish.

The cladding on the outside of Grenfell Tower was obviously not Self-Extinguishing.

There must be research into this cladding to make it fireproof. Mr M Stafford Bridgend
