Just who could be the Swansea exit

FRANCK Tabanou and Bafetimbi Gomis have already headed through the exit door at the Liberty Stadium, as Paul Clement and the Swansea City hierarchy look to restructure the squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The club are making good progress towards new arrivals, with goalkeeper Edwin Mulder the first man in this summer, amd Las Palmas’ Roque Mesa scheduled in Swansea for talks today, but there will inevitably be other departures too.

Here, we look at the players who could move on, and assess how likely a loan or permanent move would be. Kristoffer Nordfeldt The Sweden international made his feelings known on his lack of game time at the Liberty when he was in his homeland on international duty earlier in June.

He has had to endure two frustrating seasons, being unable to oust Lukasz Fabianski and making just two Premier League appearances in the process.

Swansea were thought to be keen to hold on to him, but the arrival of Edwin Mulder on a free suggests they are ready to let Nordfeldt get some game time on loan. Likelihood of leaving: 4/5 Mark Birighitti Never really threatened to get near the first-team picture and was limited to outings for the Under-23s team.

Before the end of the season he had a trial spell with Dutch club Willem II and he seems all but certain to leave once a club can be found. Likelihood of leaving: 5/5 Jordi Amat Last season was the defender’s big chance. Ashley Williams had left and he started the season as part of the first-choice defensive pairing alongside Federico Fernandez.

However, his inconsistent performances meant he was unable to nail down a regular role and he was nothing more than a bit-part player once Alfie Mawson and Fernandez hit their stride. Huw Jenkins revealed Swansea are looking at either a loan or permanent exit for Amat, and it is hard to see him having a future at the Liberty. Likelihood of leaving: 4/5 Mike van der Hoorn Like Amat, the former Ajax man had his chances to impress. His season was a mixed bag. He had decent games and bad games but showed enough to suggest he could develop into a useful asset.

Saw Mawson and Fernandez lock down starting spots, but Clement’s tactical use of him against Stoke suggests he may have a role to play. Likelihood of leaving: 2/5 Stephen Kingsley Martin Olsson’s arrival and impressive form knocked Kingsley down the pecking order, but he remains highly-rated at the Liberty Stadium.

There has been interest in taking him on loan, and it may yet be that he is given the chance this summer, but Swansea are thought to be happy with their left-back options. Likelihood of leaving: 2/5 Ki Sung-yueng Played a starring role when Swansea finished eighth in the Premier League under Garry Monk but has only fleetingly reached those heights in the last two seasons.

Showed signs of improvement towards the end of last season which was timely given he has just a year remaining on his contract.

There has been little sign of an extension at this stage, which suggests Swansea could be open to offers for the South Korea captain. Likelihood of leaving: 4/5 Jay Fulton Had a fitful campaign last term. He was used briefly by Bob Bradley and Clement but was not able to hold down a regular starting. He adds a bite and physicality in midfield, but he is trying to force his way into the team in a well-populated and competitive area. A loan looks a likely option. Likelihood of leaving: 4/5 Modou Barrow Started last season as first-choice winger, ended it unable to make any sort of impression at Championship Leeds.

The Gambian has shown flashes of his talent, but the club’s willingness to loan him out in January suggests his long-term future does not lie in a Swansea shirt. Likelihood of leaving: 5/5 Jefferson Montero A player of such pace, trickery and talent. Montero should be a major fans’ favourite, but he has become a source of genuine frustration through his inconsistency and worrying injury problems.
