Gylfi set for £30m move to Everton – reports

-

EVERTON’S £30m-plus pursuit of Swansea City ace Gylfi Sigurdsson is set to be completed this week, according to reports.

Speculation has intensified in Liverpool and London about Ronald Koeman taking the Swans’ talisman to Goodison Park in the coming days.

However, Swansea sources insist the talk is still premature and that no deal has yet been reached.

Sigurdsson reported back for pre-season duty with the Swans on Friday as Paul Clement begins his preparations for the 2017-18 campaign – with the club’s best player part of those plans as far as he is concerned.

However, that did not stop a welter of Sunday media transfer frenzy claiming Sigurdsson is the next in big-spending Everton’s summer transfer targets.

Goodison boss Koeman has already spent big to land goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and centre-back Michael Keane, while Wayne Rooney is also returning to his hometown club.

But with £75m coming in from the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, Koeman is ready to spend big again on Sigurdsson.

Swansea are thought to want at least £35m for the Icelandic star whose brilliance helped them retain their Premier League status last season.

However, it is claimed that Sigurdsson is being offered a bumper £135,000-a-week contract to seal the deal.

Koeman and director of football Steve Walsh are admirers of Sigurdsson and the manager sees the Swans ace as a key part of his plans to crack the top four.
