PEMBROKESHIRE
CAREW continued to lead Division One of the Pembrokeshire Cricket League after seeing off St Ishmaels by 42 runs.
The leaders batted first with Jimmy Hicks hitting 55 and Tom Davies notching an unbeaten 24. Andrew Palmer (3-25), Andrew Pawlett (3-34) and Danny Flynn (3-48) each took three wickets as Carew completed their overs on 152-9.
Palmer then hit 35 in reply for St Ishmaels but they could only reach 110 before being skittled out thanks to Davies (4-34) and Shaun Whitfield (4-28).
And Cresselly remain right behind them after beating bottom club Pembroke by a mammoth 126 runs.
Iwan Izzard had a memorable day as he hit a century (111) while Phil Williams chipped in with an impressive 80no. Alex Bayley hit an unbeaten half-century too to help Cresselly finish on a huge 248-2.
Phil Hay replied with an unbeaten 79 as Pembroke attempted to chase them down but their game ended on 122-7, with Tom Arthur claiming 4-28.
But Haverfordwest’s title hopes suffered a blow as struggling Lawrenny completed a shock 18-run victory.
Brad McDermott-Jenkins hit 22 as Lawrenny were bowled out for just 124, with Simon Holliday taking 5-29 and Archie Thomas bagging 3-12.
But Haverfordwest were only able to reach 106 in reply before they were skittled out thanks to McDermott-Jenkins claiming 5-34.
