Brighton latest club to be linked with move for prized asset Zohore

-

BRIGHTON are targeting Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore ahead of their debut campaign in the Premier League, according to reports.

The Bluebirds have already turned down bids from Hull for their star forward who Neil Warnock has insisted will remain in the Welsh capital for the 2017-18 campaign having put pen to paper on new terms with the club as recently as April.

But The Sun report that Chris Hughton’s Brighton are the latest side to be interested in securing the services of the 23-year-old Danish forward in a bid to bolster their attack line ahead of their Premier League debut.

The striker caught the eye of several clubs after scoring 12 goals in the Championship between December and May last season.

He impressed for Denmark during the Under-21 European Championships in Poland earlier in the summer although his side crashed out at the group stages.

The Dane was left on the bench for the opening two matches but scored twice and assisted two others as Denmark’s Under-21 side beat Czech Republic 4-2 in their third and final group game.

But Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman and manager Warnock have both insisted that their star striker is going nowhere this summer.

“He is not going anywhere. We have a job to do here, he’s a huge part of that and he will do a great job for us in the coming season,” Bluebirds chairman Mehmet Dalman told WalesOnline earlier this month.

“We’re going to have a real go at this next season,” said Dalman.

“Why would we wish to lose our top scorer and without doubt one of our best players?”

Rhys Healey will miss the opening stages of the season due to the injury he suffered in the 5-0 win over Rotherham earlier this year, while Rickie Lambert was deemed surplus to requirements by Warnock and has been shipped out.

The Yorkshireman has drafted in Danny Ward from former club Rotherham to bolster his attacking options while he also has attacker Lee Tomlin, who is expected to produce the goods further up the pitch.
