Parfitt and Quo band back on the road

Status Quo, St David’s Hall, Cardiff

ROCK and rollers Status Quo are set to return to Wales this summer.

The Whatever You Want singers are on the road to celebrate their incredible five-decade career with a special show at St David’s Hall on Wednesday, November 29.

Fans have a rare opportunity to hear all of their favourite Quo hits in an intimate setting.

They will perform at St David’s Hall, in Cardiff, for the first time in 13 years.

Despite being named the Aquostic UK tour, after their stripped down album releases, the British band has had a change of heart.

The original plan for an acoustic gig has now been shelved in favour of the band doing what they do best – plugging in the electric guitar and blasting the volume up to 11!

The past year has been the hardest year of the group’s career, after the iconic Rick Parfitt suffered a heart attack in June 2016, and was forced to stop performing.

Acoustic shows had been adopted by frontman Francis Rossi and the band, as the electric sets were considered to be too much for Rick.

Quo guitarist Rick then tragically died in December later than year from an infection from a shoulder injury.

Yet, according to the award-winning act, demand from fans for electric shows still stands, and a plugged in tour will go ahead.

Rossi said: “This has been a year like no other. In many ways the band has felt out of control.

“Rick’s passing was a huge blow. Much of what we had planned was envisaged initially to accommodate what would be right for him; those sands have obviously shifted.

“Now everything has changed. The band is not the same - it can’t be and shouldn’t be – and the plan has changed too. We’re still listening to the fans, we always have, and we’re hearing that this is what they still want. We’re going to give it to them.”

Tickets cost between £46.50 and £56.50, with an optional £1 postage fee.
