RAW (18) VEGETARIANS and those of a nervous disposition will need to give Raw a wide berth for its graphic scenes.
Teenager Junstine’s grisly coming-of-age story is riveting, anchored by a fearless lead performance from Garance Marillier as a fresh-faced young woman, who is blissfully unaware of the flesh-hungry predator within. Ella Rumpf and Rabah Nait Oufella are equally compelling and a sobering coda ensures that any gobs, which haven’t already been smacked, have their jaws fully dropped by the time the credits roll.
Available from July 31 download and streaming, available August 14 on DVD. GOING IN STYLE (12) GOING In Style is a warm-hearted remake of the 1979 comedy starring George Burns, Art Carney and Lee Strasberg.
The Academy Award-winning trio of Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin gel beautifully in the new version, trading quips with twinkles in their eyes. Some aspects of the plot wheeze and puff like the octogenarian characters and the glaze of syrupy sentimentality is laid on thick. But for all its blemishes this is a guilty pleasure.

THIS film’s enduring romance is between hot-headed men and their loaded weapons. Unlike many of the characters, that love never dies.
The trigger-happy free-for-all becomes wearisome before the final bullet reaches its intended target, and sinewy subplots to connect characters sometimes feel contrived, but as an exercise in controlled mayhem, director Ben Wheatley’s film hits more than it misses.
