Lady of Lake has echo as musician daughter recreates photo
THIS stunning picture captures an 18-year-old aristocrat from Snowdonia swimming in the same lake as her mother eight years ago.
Hero Douglas grew up in Capel Curig in the shadow of Snowdon, with her mother, Lady Alice Douglas, the daughter of the 12th Marquis of Queensbury, and brother Tybalt.
Eight years ago, photographer and family friend Christopher Furlong took pictures of Lady Alice in Llyn Mymbyr near their home, and called them the Lady of the Lake.
And now her daughter has replicated the series.
Classical harpist, singer and actress Hero said: “Chris did them eight years ago with my mum and they went viral. He asked if I would like to do them again. I said ‘Yeah, sure.’”
Hero, who has just finished her studies, said she had fond memories of her mum’s photoshoot.
She said: “I watched, but I was a bit of a wimp and didn’t get in the water. But they looked amazing.”
This time around, it wasn’t as much fun. She said: “It was a lovely day when we did them, it was just quite cold because it was the evening. And there were a lot of midges – I got eaten alive.”
Hero, just named by Tatler as one of their It Girls of 2017, is on a break from working.
She’s hoping to study composition at Christ Church College, Oxford – if she gets the grades.
Next month she will be heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where she is playing Ruby in the Dust Theatre company’s production of Dorian Gray.
