The start of something positive

-

IT’S during the summer holidays that many of your younger readers will craft fond memories for years to come, enjoying time with friends and family, taking trips away, and reflecting on the next steps in life. Of course, August spells the arrival of GCSE and A Level results, which pupils will have been eagerly anticipating for the last few weeks. This eager anticipation will inevitably develop into nerves on results day, when many students await grades which could determine where they head next in their educational journey. And for many, results day will hopefully be a joyous occasion, as pupils receive confirmation of sixth form, college, or university places.

However, for some pupils receiving grades lower than they hoped for, results day can bring new realms of uncertainty and concern as they are forced to change plans unexpectedly or they simply remain undecided on what next steps to take.

For these students the summer provides a great opportunity to thoroughly research the options available across Swansea– even if this only starts the day after results day. At Gower College Swansea, for example, we are still enrolling across a broad variety of courses. We’re happy to talk to any students either still considering or looking at college study as a new avenue to take in September – although places are being snapped up quickly, so we’d urge them to get in touch as soon as they can.

If the grades on this occasion were disappointing, it is important to remember that this is not the end of the road. Whether pupils did not receive the results they hoped for, or they’re still undecided on where to start in September, there is still time to thoroughly explore the various opportunities open to them and make the best decision for their future.

At Gower College Swansea, we would be more than happy to offer the guidance and support they need. The new term should be the start of something positive, exciting, and rife with endless opportunities to develop and prosper.

Whichever direction they choose to travel, we wholeheartedly wish your young readers all the best for the future. Mark Jones Principal, Gower College Swansea
