Passport Office looking for 300 new employees

JOBS for 300 positions at the Passport Office are being advertised.

The jobs, for part-time passport examiners, are across seven locations, including Newport. Other areas include Belfast, Durham, Glasgow, Liverpool and Peterborou­gh.

They are for fixed-term contracts of eight to 12 months on the evening shift.

The pro-rata salary is £20,352. An evening shift allowance of 20% is payable for hours worked after 8pm.

The role is to check the applicatio­ns for passports.

The online job advert reads that the purpose of the role is to “maintain the integrity of the UK passport by establishi­ng applicants’ identity and entitlemen­t for a British Passport, making decisions on issuing applicatio­ns, requesting further documentat­ion or referring an applicatio­n for further processing”.

Candidates need GCSEs or equivalent in English and maths (grades A*-C) and will be tested during the interview process.

Candidates also have to meet security requiremen­ts and are subject to UK immigratio­n and Civil Service nationalit­y rules.

Anyone applying will have to fill in an applicatio­n form and then complete two online tests.

Anyone who passes those two tests will have another applicatio­n form.
