Passport Office looking for 300 new employees
JOBS for 300 positions at the Passport Office are being advertised.
The jobs, for part-time passport examiners, are across seven locations, including Newport. Other areas include Belfast, Durham, Glasgow, Liverpool and Peterborough.
They are for fixed-term contracts of eight to 12 months on the evening shift.
The pro-rata salary is £20,352. An evening shift allowance of 20% is payable for hours worked after 8pm.
The role is to check the applications for passports.
The online job advert reads that the purpose of the role is to “maintain the integrity of the UK passport by establishing applicants’ identity and entitlement for a British Passport, making decisions on issuing applications, requesting further documentation or referring an application for further processing”.
Candidates need GCSEs or equivalent in English and maths (grades A*-C) and will be tested during the interview process.
Candidates also have to meet security requirements and are subject to UK immigration and Civil Service nationality rules.
Anyone applying will have to fill in an application form and then complete two online tests.
Anyone who passes those two tests will have another application form.
