Staying... or going?

CARDIFF CITY skipper Sean Morrison is confident Kenneth Zohore is going nowhere and reckons he can achieve his Premier League dream with the Bluebirds.

Zohore hit a cracker of a winning goal as Neil Warnock’s men kicked off their Championship campaign with a 1-0 win at Burton.

His goal-getting exploits last season saw Zohore catch the eye of other clubs and Morrison reckons he will outsrip tally “by a country mile” this time around.

Morrison said: “Ken was unplayable at times in the second half of last season, and we know if we can get him in that kind of form he’ll tear defences apart the whole season.

“I’m sure 99 per cent of Championship defences don’t want to play against him. So if we can keep him fit, I’m sure he’ll surpass 12 goals by a country mile.”

Of transfer speculation surrounding Zohore, Morrison said: “He’s young, big, strong, quick, has an eye for goal. Why wouldn’t clubs be interested in him? It’s completely understandable.

“But he’s a Cardiff City player and I know he wants to play for Cardiff City and get us back in the Premier League.

“If he scores 25 goals this season and gets us back there it’s only going to benefit him.

“People forget how young he is. If he can bring a few more bits and bobs to his game, a few little details, there’s no reason why he can’t play in the Premier League.”

JOHN HARTSON has told Swansea City to give up on Gylfi Sigurdsson and sort out his move to Everton so they can focus solely on the looming Premier League campaign.

The Swans kick-off the 201718 season on Saturday with an away clash at Southampton, but the protacted saga involving their star man continues to dominate the agenda.

Sigurdsson missed the Swans’ 4-0 thumping of Sampdoria in their final pre-season warm-up and afterwards boss Paul Clement revealed there had been no breakthrough in negotiations with less than a week to go until the start of the season.

Swansea’s owners have made clear they will not sell unless their £50million valuation is met and discussions continue.

But former Wales striker Hartson feels his home-town club have to let go of any notion that they could yet hang on to Sigurdsson, insisting it is a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’ the player ends up at Goodison Park.

“You try to hold onto him, you push the price up hoping that he stays, at Swansea, City,” Hartson told BBC Radio Wales.

“But I really can’t see it, I think he is away, I think it’s a matter of when... you’ve got to let the player go.

“Sigurdsson is one of those you cannot sell, you just cannot, but the problem you’ve got is if the player wants to go and they come up with the massive amount of money, which is £50m, then there’s really nothing you can do about it.”
