City’s heart skips beat for pop star Olly Murs

-

IT had been billed as Swansea‘s biggest outdoor gig of the summer, writes Mark Rees.

And X Factor’s Olly Murs didsn’t disappoint.

He made fans’ hearts skip a beat during a sparkling night of live music in Singleton Park on Saturday which came despite a last minute change to the line-up.

Thousands flocked to see him perform some of his more well-known hits.

His gig came as support act Louisa Johnson pulled out of the Swansea show with just hours to spare. She posted on social media that her voice had “more or less gone”.

She was replaced with the Welsh act Into the Ark from television’s The Voice talent show instead. Rhys Andrew, 22, from Morriston said: “I had a great night at the concert. Olly Murs was a lot better live than what I thought he would be.

“He is a great showman. He’s also a very humble guy, he kept thanking X factor and everyone who voted for him. The atmosphere was amazing.

Lloyd Bellis, 20, added “What a night! Olly was fantastic. My favourite performance was Dance With Me Tonight. For 10 minutes he also sang songs from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, the crowd loved it.”

Hannah Pearson, from Goweron, said: “Everyone enjoyed it. It’s good to see acts like this coming to Swansea and the park makes for a great outdoor arena.”
