Gibson bags double as Neath see off Moseley

NEATH continued their preseason preparatio­n with an excellent 14-12 victory over English National League One outfit Moseley at The Gnoll.

All the points came in the first half with livewire scrum-half Scott Gibson helping himself to two touchdowns, which were both converted by fly-half Iwan Evans.

Lewis Bean and Ryan Roach crossed for the visitors, with Bean’s try converted by James Dixon.

The win for the Welsh All Blacks followed up their 38-17 victory at Ystalyfera.

Swansea went down 47-29 at Redruth, while a Shaun Pearce try was the only consolatio­n for Aberavon as they were defeated 64-7 at English Championsh­ip club Cornish Pirates.

In other friendly action, winger Aaron Grabham, signed during the close season from Neath, was on the scoresheet for his new club Bridgend as they drew 12-12 at Trebanos.

Ryan Evans also crashed over for the Ravens.

Cardiff got some useful minutes under their belts with a 4219 victory at English National League Two South club Taunton Titans.

Codey Rees scored two of Cardiff’s six tries, with James Beal, Reuben Tucker, Will ReesHole and Owen Lane also on the scoresheet

Gareth Thompson kicked five conversion­s, with Llywarch ap Myrddin adding the other.

Hadyn Simons ran the show for Newport as they picked up a crushing 80-7 win at Risca, while Llandovery were defeated 28-26 by Esher at Church Bank.

Reigning Premiershi­p champions Merthyr found Ealing Trailfinde­rs too hot to handle, with the English Championsh­ip side winning 51-19 at the Wern.

Ebbw Vale were beaten 34-29 at Chinnor, while tries from Liam Davies, Anosa Neova and Scott Matthews helped earn Cross Keys a 30-10 victory at Old Redcliffia­ns.

Josh Prosser kicked three conversion­s and three penalties for the men from Pandy Park.

Pontypridd ran riot at Abercwmboi with 12 tries in a crushing 76-0 victory in captain Dafydd Lockyer’s testimonia­l.

Wing Dale Stuckey helped himself to four tries, two in each half, while Dane Blacker also went over twice, with Corrie Tarrant, Jordan Rees, Jamie Hill, Rhys Morgan, Tom Jeavons and Jarrod Rees also went over the whitewash. Diggy Bird and Jordan Rees both kicked three conversion­s, with Morgan banging over another two.
