WHO SHOULD REGIONAL FANS BE LOOKING OUT FOR IN THE GUINNESS PRO14?

WE all know the big-name stars that turn out for the Welsh regions throughout the season but what happens when they get called up by Wales?

What happens is, the regions must then rely on the youngsters coming through their academies to fill the void and ensure the season doesn’t drift off course.

With the financial climate in Wales, the onus has been on the regions to develop from within, as looking to buy in order to grow the player pool can be difficult.

So who is coming through the system?

We asked Gethin Jenkins, Cory Hill, Dan Lydiate and Ken Owens who they think we should be looking out for next season.

Here’s what they had to say... GETHIN JENKINS (CARDIFF BLUES) “Seb Davies has done really well on the summer tour so hopefully he can come through a bit more this year.

“He’s a quiet boy and he’s been chucked in the deep with going on the Wales tour, but hopefully he can come on now with someone like Dillon Lewis, who has done well on the tour as well.

“Other players who are quite impressive are Jarrod Evans the outside half and Aled Summerhill on the wing. Hopefully all those boys can kick on.

“There are a lot of good youngsters coming through and with the financial climate in Wales at the moment, that’s the way forward, to bring in these youngsters and give them games. “You have to give them that exposure at the top level.” CORY HILL (DRAGONS) “We’ve got a couple of youngsters coming through.

“I’m hoping Leon Brown, our young tight-head, is going to have a really good season and Harrison Keddie,

is another young prospect coming through at No.8.

“They’re big, physical boys. We’re not blessed with that type of player, we’ve got a few boys that can do it, but they are certainly ready to step up in terms of physicalit­y.

“Hopefully they can get a few more appearance­s and more experience under their belts and have a good season.”

“Obviously, Ollie Griffiths had a really good season last year and I think he’s going to follow it up with another one.” DAN LYDIATE (OSPREYS) “He’s been involved with the Welsh set-
