It’s a Royals appointment for Swans

-

SWANSEA City will face Reading at the Madejski Stadium in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

It means the Swans are away from home once again having beaten MK Dons 4-1 at Stadium MK in the second round of this season’s competition.

Goals from Tammy Abraham and Jordan Ayew along with a brace from midfielder Leroy Fer ensured Paul Clement’s side scored their first goals of the 2017-18 campaign as well as earning their first victory of the new season.

Jaap Stam’s men secured comfortable wins over Gilliingham and Millwall to progress into the third stage of the competition, with Swansea set to face the Royals for the first time since December 2012.

With the previous rounds of the Carabao Cup being regionalised, the third round draw – which took place in Beijing – was a straight open draw, with the seven Premier League sides who qualified for Europe last term all entering the competition.

There are four all Premier League ties set to take place in round three, with Leicester hosting Liverpool, Man City travelling to West Brom, Bournemouth taking on Brighton and Crystal Palace facing Huddersfield at Selhurst Park.

Ties take place during the week commencing Monday, September 18.

The Swans face Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday, September 16 before hosting Watford at the Liberty Stadium seven days later.
