‘WELSH CAPITAL WILL BE NUTS FOR TITLE SHOWDOWN’ – JOSHUA

-

ANTHONY Joshua is relishing his opportunity to experience the ‘nuts’ Cardiff atmosphere when he fights Kubrat Pulev at the Principality Stadium on October 28.

The heavyweight world champion got his first look at the arena yesterday, having never previously visited.

Renowned in rugby circles for its electric atmosphere, the stadium will once again turn up the volume but this time for boxing and Joshua can’t wait.

“What I’m hearing is that it’s going to be nuts!” He said.

“It’ll just be bouncing up and down and there’s not a bad seat in the house, even though it can hold thousands and thousands of people. “Everyone will be happy.” And the fans should be excited too. The 29-year-old boasts a record of 19 knockouts in 19 fights and is one of the most explosive and devastating athletes on the planets.

The Cardiff crowd should expect nothing less than fireworks next month, with the defending champion insisting he’d view himself as a failure if he let a fight go 12 rounds.

“This is heavyweight boxing, you have to knock someone out.

“It’s like with the Klitschko fight, I had to get him out.

“That’s why it’s exciting, it doesn’t go to the judges, you’ve made the decision.

“It’s just the excitement, it shows that your timing is great, you’re a puncher in the division, you’re force to be reckoned with.

“If they say ‘this guy is tough, this guy has never been stopped before’ and then you go and knock him out in three rounds, it adds value. “That’s why I like knocking people out.” Hoping to put on a show next month, he added: “That’s what they’re there for, it’s heavyweight boxing.

“With the lighter guys, you can understand that it may not happen because there’s not as much weight behind the punch.

“But with the big guys, you can find it – bang! You have to knock people out.”
