Eco-action day to save rainforests

-

AN annual day of green action will return to Wales next month to spread awareness about rising global temperatures and the impact on the environment.

This year’s Go Green Day, organised by climate change charity Size of Wales, takes place on Friday, October 13.

Across the country, schools, offices and community groups will take part, helping to spread climate change awareness and raise funds for Size of Wales’ forest projects across Africa and South America.

Every pound donated is sent straight to the projects, which cover an area of tropical forest twice the size of Wales – but not before being doubled by their match fund.

Organisers are urging people to get creative when they take part.

In previous years fundraising efforts have seen people ditch the car and cycle to work or school, hold a bake sale, enjoy an all-green picnic or dress head to toe in green for the day.

Cardiff-based sustainable printers Minuteman Press will be taking part for a second year.

Branch manager Louise Williams said: “On the day, we will be selling our popular Go Green colouring books, created especially for Go Green Day. And, of course, we will be wearing green.

“Size of Wales’ work is such a great cause, one that we’re also very passionate about supporting and promoting.”

Size of Wales director Rita Singh said: “We are really excited for Wales to ‘go green’ and to see the variety of activities that will be happening for Go Green Day.”
