Lions prop Grant heads back home to Glasgow

-

FORMER British and Irish Lions prop Ryan Grant has returned to Glasgow following a brief spell in the Aviva Premiership.

The 31-year-old (pictured) only left Scotstoun in January for Worcester and has rejoined on what the club described as a “short-term deal”.

The loosehead prop made 109 appearances in his first spell for the club and left for the other Warriors vowing to rediscover his best form after missing large parts of 2016 with arm and back injuries.

The 25-times capped Scotland international said: “The opportunity to come up here is one I took with both hands.

“Not many players are lucky enough to come back here after they leave, I consider myself very lucky to have already played over 100 times for the club and hopefully I can add to that.

“It was good to spend a little while playing in the Premiership in England, learning different techniques from different coaches, but it also made me appreciate what a great club Glasgow is and I’m grateful to be back.”

Grant was not involved when Dave Rennie’s side hosted Treviso last night.

Back-row forward Matt Fagerson has signned a professional contract with the club.

The 19-year-old has agreed a deal until 2020 to join his brother Zander in the Warriors professional ranks.

He said: “Signing with the Glasgow Warriors is a dream come true. It’s awesome.

“It was an easy decision for me to make. I had a good chat with Zander, he loves it here and I thoroughly enjoyed my experiences playing last year too. I’m really looking forward to the next two and a half years.”

Warriors have also signed 24-year-old Glasgow Hawks back Bobby Beattie in a partnership deal until the end of the season after he impressed in pre-season games.
